Choosing a Road Bike:


    

  • Light weight overall

  • High quality wheels have double-wall rims with the benefits of being lighter, stronger and stiffer than lower quality single-wall rims.

  • Good components will always perform better and last longer. The shifters and brakes are something to pay good attention to. Having 10 gears on the rear wheel is prefered over the 8 or 9 that are found on lower priced road bikes

  • Disc. brakes have the benefit of providing better (more powerful) stopping in both wet and dry conditions as compared to the common caliper brakes. Disc. brakes also do not have the side-wall rim wear from the friction created from using caliper brakes
